The trend of lightweight ebikes has become prominent.

These electric bikes, with reduced weight compared to traditional ones, offer freedom and enjoyment in movement. They combine the advantages of pedal-assist power with the agility and lightness of non-electric bikes. Especially in city commuting, extensive battery range is unnecessary. With a compact 400 Wh battery, the Culture ensures over 50 km of travel while significantly reducing weight. Thus, a lightweight ebike provides maneuverability comparable to that of a conventional city bike, which many are accustomed to and reluctant to give up.

Many companies have contributed to the development of lightweight ebikes, and prices more or less equalize.

So, why choose Riese & Muller? Let us explain.

Riese & Muller has already delved into the realm of lightweight ebikes with the UBN range (which we covered in a video on our channel, check it out!), but now it takes a further step with the Culture, the first featuring the Bosch SX motor.

Just look at it: isn’t it fantastic?

Design plays a crucial role in this ebike, leaving viewers wondering whether it’s equipped with a motor or not. Integration is at its peak: the battery and motor, thanks to their compactness, are fully integrated into the frame. Cables are routed inside the handlebar stem, and since a plethora of data isn’t necessary for city travel, there’s no display. Instead, users can utilize their smartphones as onboard computers, attaching them to the handlebar with the quick-release mount. Even the components are meticulously chosen: take a look at the Magura brake levers and the flush rear light on the mudguard – they add a touch of class!

The frame’s aesthetics rely on essential and elegant lines, accentuated by pastel colors with a matte finish, which are contemporary and refreshing. The shape of the top tube serves not only aesthetic but also practical purposes: with this curvature, the head tube is raised, providing maximum comfort along with the handlebar bend. With the Culture, one can ride all day in the city in complete relaxation.

For those concerned about sustainability, pedaling an ebike instead of driving a car is already an eco-friendly – and cost-effective – choice, but with the Culture, it’s even more so: the frame is made from nearly 50% recycled aluminum.

Let’s talk about electronic components. Firstly, there’s the Smart System, providing total connectivity via the LED remote or the compact Purion 200 display. The brand-new Performance Line SX motor is the most compact and lightweight ever made by Bosch, weighing only 2 kg. The same goes for the Compact Tube battery, which charges directly without removal. For longer trips, it can be paired with an optional 250 Wh additional battery. Altogether, compared to a traditional ebike, about 5 kg are saved, making a noticeable difference in the city. We’ve tested it, and believe me, the power is always there, and the riding experience is extremely natural. Ease and maneuverability come first.

There are two frame types: traditional and Mixte, providing easy access.

Like all Riese & Muller bikes, the Culture can be customized to individual preferences. For instance, users can choose the transmission type according to their needs: a 10-speed Shimano CUES external derailleur, an 8-speed Shimano Nexus internal gear hub with twist shifter, or the Enviolo 380 continuously variable transmission with twist shifter and integrated display. The latter two options feature a belt instead of a chain, minimizing maintenance.

Regarding customization, the Culture can be enhanced with various optional accessories: a rear rack for bags or child seats, a suspension kit for maximum comfort, and an RX Chip for GPS tracking and motion alarm.
